Coronavirus Response | Previous Announcements

This week we want to inform you of plans for athletics. Guided by our affiliation with the IHSAA, the path forward for our athletics' activities is available in our HCS Athletics Multi-Phase Plan for Return to Competition.

We want to share with you an important update on our plans for starting the new school year with our students physically on campus and in classrooms. Following review of health guidelines and recent re-opening considerations from the Department of Education, we believe we are well positioned to be able to return to in-person, in-class education.

Our school year has finished! Congratulations to all our students, families and teachers for completing this unique year. We pray that all our families will have a healthy and blessed summer break. Finishing the race is a metaphor that the Apostle Paul uses. II Timothy 4:7 says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." He's referring to the most important race of life, which is to be a follower of Christ, but we are also finishing the race of this extraordinary 2019-20 school year.

As Indiana rolls out its five-part reopening plan, we are excited about our own return to on-campus education. While life on campus may feel different with increased health safety procedures and other appropriate operational changes, I want to assure you that it is our intent to safely reopen this August.

The health safety of our campers and staff is our top priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. After reviewing the state's phased reopening plans, Heritage has made the difficult decision to cancel all 2020 summer camps. If you registered your student for a camp, a refund will be issued to the original form of payment.

These are challenging times. This current pandemic will influence a generation. In its midst, what role will we play as a Christian school and community of Christ-followers? How will we impact and influence this generation? More than ever, this is a time for creativity, perseverance, and wisdom. I believe God has given us this opportunity to serve His Kingdom in new ways. Let me share some thoughts about our path forward.
