"Doc" Richards Scholastic Senior Athlete Award
Mark “Doc” Richards continues to impact the lives of Heritage students years after losing his battle with cancer. Doc was a Heritage parent and former Heritage girls’ basketball and boys’ tennis coach. While he was passionate about athletic excellence, he was resolute about academic achievement. Each new team Doc coached would learn his philosophy on discipline, organization and focus with the ultimate goal being to better equip his athletes for life and obstacles they may face. We continue to honor his memory by naming two outstanding senior athletes who have also committed themselves to academic excellence. This award is presented to the male and female athletes with the highest grade point averages.
